Formation Resources
Tools for the week, gathered in one place.
Formation does not end when the service does. What begins on Sunday morning is meant to travel home with you, into the week and into the ordinary hours.
The difficulty, for most of us, is that nobody ever handed us the tools. We were not taught how to read Scripture on a Tuesday morning, or what to say when we sit down to pray, or how any of it might reach the table where our household eats. Those things are learned rather than inherited, and they are learned slowly.
So this is the place for support. Whatever you are looking for, a way into Scripture, a shape for your prayer, some sense of where the Church has come from, or a practice to steady your own soul, you will find something here to begin with. Take what helps you and leave the rest. Nothing gathered here is a requirement, and there is no wrong place to start.
One
Bible
Reading plans and study guides, along with help finding your way around a library of books that can feel daunting from the outside. Begin anywhere; the point is to begin.
Two
Prayer
The daily offices, written prayers, and simple practices for anyone who has never quite known what to say. Borrowed words are not lesser words; the Church has always prayed this way.
Three
History
Where the Church has come from, why we do what we do on a Sunday morning, and something of the long company of saints and ordinary Christians you have joined.
Four
Daily Practice
A rule of life, examination of conscience, fasting, keeping a sabbath: the quiet disciplines that shape a soul over years rather than weeks. Unglamorous, and the ones that last.
